Scott Mayberry's work explores the boundaries of convention, looking beneath the everyday to explore the shadows of culture, societal expectations and spiritual truth. He works in a wide variety of media, developing themes in series of ten to twelve pieces. His recent series "Birds on Paper" investigates the theory of multiple dimensions, mirroring and the laws of consciousness; conversely, the series "Buildings" comments on the perceived permanence of human culture, revealing its frailties.
Scott currently works primarily with acrylic and pen on paper or wood.
Scott received his M.F.A. from the University of Austin, Texas in 1997. Since completing his education, he has created a significant body of work, which has been shown nationally and in several solo shows.
